Update on Modified Sports

Alexander Wolff

Dear Pelham Families

I am writing to share that Section 1 has decided to postpone the start of all modified (7th/8th grade) sports, as well as all levels of girls' swimming until March 1 as part of Fall Sports Season II. It was previously announced that volleyball, football and competitive cheerleading were also postponed until March 1.

As a reminder, the remaining JV/Varsity sports are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 29. If your PMHS student is interested in playing, please be sure to complete the registration process using FamilyID if you have not already done so.

Please note that NYSED has waived the physical exam requirement for students for the 2020 Fall season. According to the New York State Education Department, any student who had a physical during the 2018-19 or 2019-20 school year is eligible to participate in interscholastic athletics this Fall (2020) providing they submit an updated health history form to the district. At this time, no extension has been granted to Winter or Spring athletes.

We look forward to a safe and competitive fall sports season!
